How to Trust Your Intuition And Improve Your Love Life

Think back to a time when you had a certain feeling about someone or some place - something didn’t feel quite right.

That feeling like something is off. It’s a feeling that dips down into your gut; there’s an anxiousness - like “I shouldn’t be with this person" or "I shouldn't be here.”

You know to what I’m referring, right?

That’s the feeling definition of intuition.

The dictionary definition of intuition is “a direct perception of truth, fact, etc., independent of any reasoning process; immediate apprehension.”

What’s this got to do with dating and relationships?

A lot.

Intuition is vital when it comes to dating and relationships.

It has saved me from many disastrous situations and relationships.

In those moments, I had to forget my heart and go with my gut.

In Western culture, though, we’re so caught up in our heads that we often dismiss the gut feeling coming over of us.

Remember that really handsome guy where there was a moment when something wasn’t quite right?

You glossed over the feeling and continued to date him because you were trying to make him fit - like a square peg in a round hole. You so wanted him to be “the one.”

In those times you were going against your intuition.

It could have saved you the heartache because six months into the dating relationship, the gut feeling you had manifested itself as lies, lies and more lies.

He was lying to you from the beginning about his relationship status because he already had a girlfriend. The cad!

One of the many amazing things about women is that they are born with this natural instinct of intuition; more so then men. Although men have intuition it’s not as honed as women’s. It’s also not the place where men go in making decisions because they make decisions based on facts - not their feelings.

Trusting your intuition can be a struggle for some - like it has been for me in the past.

So, how do you grow your intuition?

A simple way is to get centered in yourself through meditation. It’s about connecting to your intuition through relaxation and being free of distractions.

For ten minutes a day, get rid of the social media, phone, television. Put on some music by Enya or other soothing music.

Get centered in your breath, focus and remain present. In other words, don’t let your mind wander for these ten minutes.

It’s a small step, but, over time, if you're consistent and make this your intention, small steps lead to big changes.

When you listen to your gut instinct - your intuition - it will never let you down.

Have you ever not listened to your intuition and wished you would have? What happened?

Post a comment and I'll meet you there.
